From a young age, my life has been a canvas of creativity and exploration. I began painting in Quebec, Canada, at just 4 years old, guided by my gran and mother. This early start in art blossomed into a lifelong passion as I pursued a studio art degree with a French minor at the College of Charleston. Over the years, my artistic journey expanded well beyond the canvas. In my twenties, I became a member of the “Living Color” art collective in Charleston, SC, where I painted for concerts and festivals, hosted events, and contributed murals and large-scale pieces throughout the town. My work, characterized by vibrant acrylics, reflects the hues of my world travels and the immersive experience of art that envelops and connects us.
In 2017, I moved to Oregon and launched “Leger Lessons,” a small business offering painting classes in local venues and the scenic countryside of Eugene. This venture allowed me to blend art with community engagement, creating spaces where people could feel at ease while expressing their creativity. During my time in the Pacific Northwest, I also delved into yoga, earning certifications in Kundalini Yoga from Yoga West, Eugene, and completing my perinatal YTT and Doula training from Awakened Spirit Yoga and DONA International.
It was through my practice of art and yoga that I discovered Ayurveda, a path that resonated deeply with my holistic approach to life. Now back in the Southeast, I am pursuing my Ayurvedic Practitioner Program at the Yoga Veda Institute. Combining my roles as an artist, yoga instructor, and herbal medicine enthusiast, I am dedicated to guiding others towards their own balance through Ayurveda. I offer Ayurvedic Lifestyle Coaching while completing my practitioner training, helping my community increase their awareness and restore their unique balance with compassionate guidance and holistic tools.
My paintings are a reflection of my emotional, psychological, and physiological journey, capturing the essence of my life's transformations. Art is my primary language for processing and expressing these shifts, translating my inner experiences into visual forms. Each piece begins as a vision in my mind, a fluid concept that evolves over days or weeks. I immerse myself in this mental landscape, allowing the imagery and symbolism to develop and expand before translating it to the canvas.
The relationship between myself and my artwork is deeply dynamic and transformative. As the painting unfolds, my initial vision continuously adapts, growing and reshaping from conception to reality. This evolving dialogue with the artwork is one of my most cherished aspects of the creative process. I have come to appreciate painting in shorter, more focused bursts, stepping back to engage with the piece as it begins to "speak" to me. This interaction teaches me to let go of rigid expectations and embrace the fluidity of creation, fostering a practice of detachment, acceptance, and release.
Through this process, my work becomes a space where I confront and transcend my attachments, ultimately finding clarity and freedom in the art of letting go. Each painting is not just a finished piece but a testament to my journey, inviting viewers to witness and connect with the transformative power of creative expression.
